There is no question that robots are going to have a major impact on the future, and the world is changing so much in this direction. It seems clear that there are going to be some major changes to the world of business, and robots are no doubt going to play a part in this. Make sure you do as much as possible to understand the role that robots are likely to play in the future.
A lot of people have been worrying for some time about the impact that robots are going to have on our jobs. Now, these seem to be pretty founded fears, and there are a lot of changes that have taken place in the world that have seen us embrace technology, and there are many areas of business that have also seen major changes. So, are robots likely to take our jobs in the future? Well, there are arguments for and against, so let’s look at a little of both right now.
Yes – They already are
The chances are that you, or somebody you know, works in a profession which has already started to integrate robots. There are plenty of jobs where this is something that’s a possibility, and you should be aware of these. Basically, jobs in manufacturing and production, or jobs that involve a lot of machinery, are prime candidates for the use of robots. And we can find out more about the reasons why below.
Yes – It makes better business sense
The simple fact of the matter is that it makes better business sense to use robots for certain jobs than it does to use people. Consider a factory worker or a manufacturing plant; these are the ideal positions in which robotic workers are appealing. The reason for this is that robots don’t get tired or make human error. They can be programmed to do a task indefinitely, and this makes them efficient and productive. What’s more, they don’t require a salary, annual leave, and all the other things that human workers rely on.
No – They will create new jobs
As much as robots might take a fair few jobs from certain industries, they are also going to create new ones too. By their very nature, robots are going to need to be programmed, repaired, maintained, and plenty more besides, and this is why new jobs will need to be created. We could see a groundbreaking development in the modern world, where we actually see brand new jobs created en masse for the first time.
No – Some jobs just wouldn’t be the same
There are, of course, certain jobs that just wouldn’t be the same if a robot were to do them, and this is why it is highly unlikely that all (or even most) jobs would get replaced. There are a lot of creative jobs that just would not be the same without a human doing them. Think things like writing, acting, or anything in the arts.
As you can see, there are arguments for and against both sides of the story, and this is why it is so important to make sure you get a balanced viewpoint. Make sure you do as much as you can to figure out how robots are going to affect your working life, if at all. One thing is for sure they are going to affect our lives in general in a big way, and that’s unavoidable.
